About Virtual Learning

In early March 2020, even as much of the country was just recognizing the impending Coronavirus pandemic, Creative Enterprises decided to prepare for the possibility of a pandemic shutdown. Like many others since, we saw online classes as a way to keep engaged with the people we serve and we began making arrangements. Before then we had no virtual learning program and no expertise in creating one.

We shut down on March 13 and had our first online session with some of our service population on March 20. By the end of March we had conducted 14 classes across our two campuses and had received such interest in both cases that we ramped up to 76 classes in April and have averaged over 80 classes per month since.

But number of classes is less important than finding a way to continue our Mission while upholding our Values. With our virtual learning program, we give the individuals we serve needed structure and a way to keep engaged socially while continuing their education. We hold several virtual learning classes daily throughout the week, including: daily hub, fitness, art, reading, geography, weather, yoga, math, language arts, science, and a weekly mystery class.

And while our dedicated Staff plan and conduct all the classes, we often invite subject-matter experts to participate and co-teach topics that thrill and excite everyone in our program. And some classes have even made virtual visits to special places of interest like musical shows, farms or parks.

This section provides a taste of some of our virtual classes, with examples from both recurring classes and special events. It also highlights some unique features, like Coronasaurus Rex, that really delight the people we serve.
